SSLA continuing on the tradition established in its year of inception organized a ten day orientation program for the new batch. The idea behind such a long orientation program is to help the freshers break the ice and to get them familiarized with the campus and the surrounding areas, since most of the students arefrom outside Pune.
The first day was devoted to introductions and ice-breaking activities organized by the seniors for the new batch, while the parents had an interactive session with the Director and the other faculty members. The second day saw a couple of workshops being conducted for the students, including one on cyber safety and another one on general well being. The students were also familiarized with the rules and policies followed at SSLA. On the third day the senior students organized the SSLA Amazing Race in and around the campus, wherein the students had to follow clues to destinations like FTII, Fergusson College and Hong Kong Lane, and complete certain tasks. The amazing race certainly helped the students discover the places around the campus and little trivia about them. The students went on a heritage walk to the old parts of Pune on the fourth day, starting from the Shaniwar Wada area to the old temple area, the Mandai and the narrow lanes that till date live and breathe the traditional craft of pottery and copper vessel making.
On the fifth day the students were taken to the Lavale campus of Symbiosis where they had an entire day of outbound activities and adventure sports. The next day everyone left for Aurangabad for three days, where they visited various heritage sites like the Bibi ka Maqbara, Ajanta and Ellora caves and had a small trek to the Daulatabad Fort.
Once back from Aurangabad, the students had a day off, after which the whole orientation program culminated on the final day where an interactive session between the two batches of SSLA was organized. Highly energized after all the activities for ten days, SSLA kick started the new academic session on the 1st of August with gusto!
