Guest Lecture by Mr. Francis Jarman

Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts (SSLA) organised a unique lecture / workshop by a world travelled intellectual, researcher and educationalist from the UK. Mr. Francis Jarman addressed issues ranging from race and sex to travel and cultural superiority. He currently teaches English, Cultural Studies & Intercultural Communication at the University of Hildesheim, Germany. He is also a numismatist and a performed playwright.

Mr.Jarman has recently published a book called 'White Skin, Dark Skin, Power, Dream', which is a collection of essays on literature & culture.  He discussed certain foundational aspects of cultural studies as layed out in the book of essays just mentioned. The talk was India centric, as 5 of the essays in this book deal with or reference our country in an important sense.
